Questions people ask

What is a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

A Switch 1 game re-released for Switch 2 with better performance and, often, new content. You can buy the Switch 2 Edition outright, or, if you own the Switch 1 game, buy an upgrade pack and keep playing the copy you have.

Does a Switch 2 Edition upgrade work with a physical Switch 1 cartridge?

Yes for Nintendo's upgrade packs: buy the pack once, then keep the Switch 1 cartridge in the console whenever you play the Switch 2 Edition. Each edition's page says whether that's confirmed for it.

Are Switch 2 Editions on the cartridge?

Nintendo's own Switch 2 Editions so far come with the whole game on the cartridge. Some other publishers ship theirs as Game-Key Cards. Each edition below says which.
